ATPE employs a staff of approximately 60 employees to deliver member services across the state. Guided by ATPE's core values of Service, Teamwork, Communication, Professionalism and Excellence, these individuals work tirelessly to serve individual member needs and further the interests of all Texas educators.
ATPE Administration staff members act as liaisons and support for the ATPE state officers, Board of Directors, and staff. Members of the department are involved in ATPE staff management, facilities issues, liability insurance claims and negotiations, and other special projects concerning members and staff members. The Executive Director, reporting to the Board of Directors, is responsible for general supervision and the day-to-day management and direction of the association. The Associate Executive Director for Operations oversees ATPE’s Accounting, Information Technology, and Member Legal Services departments. The Associate Executive Director for Member Services oversees ATPE’s Governmental Relations, Events, Marketing and Engagement, and Membership departments. The HR/Operations Director oversees ATPE workforce development, facilities, employee payroll and benefits, and compliance.

ATPE Events is responsible for planning and facilitating all state meetings and events which includes ATPE Board of Directors meetings, standing and special committee meetings, the ATPE Summit, and other special events.

ATPE Governmental Relations (GR) staff members advocate for public education at the local, state, and national levels in accordance with the positions and philosophies adopted by ATPE members. To help the membership participate in grassroots advocacy and civic engagement, the department provides political involvement and issue-oriented training, conducts candidate surveys, and facilitates meetings with candidates and officeholders. The GR staff disseminates information to members and the public about legislative and policy issues through ATPE's Teach the Vote blog and its profiles of Texas candidates and officeholders. Staff members also provide training and content for the ATPE Member Advocacy Program (ATPE-MAP) and host ATPE Capitol Expeditions during legislative sessions for ATPE-MAP completers. Finally, the department manages the ATPE Political Action Committee (ATPE-PAC), including its fundraising activities and awards.

ATPE Marketing and Engagement staff members are responsible for marketing, communications, public relations, and member engagement through professional learning and networking platforms. They coordinate with all ATPE departments and outsourced vendors to deliver innovative promotions and marketing campaigns to drive member engagement and recruitment. The Marketing and Engagement staff members manage content for ATPE’s websites, oversee the ATPE brand, administer the ATPE Community, direct social media engagement, and support ATPE’s AI Assistant, Judy. They disseminate communications from the state office, including membership materials and ATPE publications, and they provide ATPE volunteer leaders with business cards, letterhead, and other resources for use in their local units and regions. The department also oversees public relations activities, providing spokespeople for media interviews, promoting the association's positions and activities, and maximizing opportunities for the state association and its local units and regions to gain positive media coverage. Finally, the department manages ATPE’s professional learning portal, creating and facilitating professional development courses, webinars, and presentations, while coordinating CPE credit that is offered by ATPE and our partners to Texas educators.

ATPE Membership staff members coordinate the year-round membership recruitment and retention program, answer questions regarding ATPE membership and programs, oversee ATPE’s member discounts program, provide training and support to ATPE’s volunteer leaders, ensure compliance with charter standards for ATPE local units and regions, administer ATPE’s awards programs, and coordinate Leadership ATPE (the association’s leadership development program). The ATPE membership specialists bring ATPE's message to school districts, colleges, universities, and alternative certification programs around the state and provide support to ATPE's local units and at-large members within their respective recruitment areas.
