Sample Letter: Request for Release from Employment
Contract
Your employment contract is a legally binding document.
In order to end your employment before the contract's ending date, your employer must "release"
you from your legal obligations under the contract.
Serious legal consequences may result from resigning your
employment with a school district without first obtaining
release from your employment contract from the school
district.
The following wording can be used to request release
from your employment contract with a school district.
Please do not print this page and submit it to your school
district. You should create a document of your own,
inserting the appropriate information where indicated.
Call the ATPE Member Legal Services Department at (800)
777-ATPE if you have questions about this document or the
laws about release or resigning from your employment
contract.
