Para-educator Self-Study Program
The Barkley Memorial Center at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln has created a Para-educator Self-Study Program, designed to provide para-educators with a basic introductory training program via the Internet. The program, available at http://para.unl.edu, teaches para-educators everything from how to communicate effectively with supervisors to how to acknowledge and document personal skills to how to apply the program's information in actual classroom situations.

Record Keeping
Once you find what you’re looking for, keep track of all the hours you complete and submit them to your supervisor when school starts. If money and time constraints are a problem, think about individually guided professional development such as reading a book or researching at your local library. If you take this route, keep a journal of what you learn to turn in to your supervisor.
