A Message from Jimmy Lee

As we continue to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our organization, we are faced with an interesting year ahead of us moving into year 41—one like we have never experienced, and hopefully one like we will never face again in the future. Our organization is strong and resilient and has faced numerous challenges before. There is no doubt that we are going to tackle this challenge head on as well.

You have proven already that the current situation is not going to keep you from getting the job done. The determination and dedication that was shown by many to help put together our first-ever virtual summit was off the charts phenomenal. That was a monumental feat, and it was done in a grand fashion. Once again, as we do in so many areas, we set the bar for others to follow. You are to be commended for your efforts, and you should hold your head high and be proud of the results of your efforts.

As we move into the beginning of this school year, we are faced with many questions still. How long will this last? When can we get back to “normal”? Finding an answer to this question at this time is difficult, to say the least. But one answer we know for sure: This organization knows no reverse—we are moving forward regardless of the circumstances in front of us. We are making history, and together, we are going to make some good history.

Never doubt that you are appreciated, because you are. Everyone is an important member of our team. And I have never been more proud to belong to a team than I am to belong to this one. I am very proud of each one of you and want to personally thank you for all you do, not only for our organization, but also for the educators and students statewide. Your work has a great impact on many and is far-reaching.

You have my commitment that I, and our state officer corps, will work hand in hand with you throughout this next year. Together, we are going to accomplish some great things. This is the year for our light to shine brighter than it has ever shone, this is the year we will continue to rise head and shoulders above others, and this is the year that we will look back on and smile and say, “Together, we did it—job well done!”

I am pulling for you, I am always in your corner, and I am always here for you. If I can be of any assistance to you in any way, please let me know.

Together, let’s do this!

Jimmy Lee,
2020-21 State President
