Alafair Hammett Media Award
Recognizing excellence in education reporting
Named for the association’s first state president, the Alafair Hammett Media Award is presented annually to one journalist in recognition of an excellent example of education journalism. ATPE Public Information Committee members score nominated works on the following criteria:
- The article/story covers subjects relevant to educators and the larger public education community.
- The coverage is clear and understandable to the average reader.
- The article is favorable or neutral toward educators and public education policy.
- The writing and/or production of the story is interesting and captures attention.
