Why do educators need professional liability insurance?
Professional liability insurance helps protect an educator’s personal assets in the event of a lawsuit arising from their professional duties. The insurance pays the cost of covered claims for defense costs and judgments or settlements, up to policy limits.
The Educators Professional Liability Insurance Policy provided to eligible ATPE members includes up to $8 million in professional liability insurance per insured member per occurrence, subject to aggregate limits of $2 million per insured for violations of students’ civil rights and $500,000 per insured for bodily injury/property damage claims.
