In Summer 2014, Boerne Middle School South Principal Susan Cleveland attended the Leadership: An Evolving Vision conference at Harvard University. She came away with a list of books that can help educators stay current on all the latest education strategies and tactics that can help educators succeed on campus, and now, she has shared that list with ATPE! Be a Leader in Your Hallway

We teachers are already planning lessons and units for next year. Yep, that’s true. Some of us started after Christmas break and some after spring break, but we have, at the very least, jotted down an outline of some kind with enthusiastic ideas and details about subjects we are not even certain we will be teaching.
Thoughts on Retirement

After 30 years as an educator, in 2002, I retired from teaching in Texas. I taught high school English and coached eight to ten University Interscholastic League events, getting up at 5:30 a.m. to travel to practice competitions on my weekends (often getting home around midnight)—it was hard to keep up.
My Afternoon with the ATPE Lobby Team

I have always had an interest in what the ATPE lobby team does, especially during legislative sessions. However, in 2009, what was going on in the Texas legislature became personal for me. Why? Because my stepdaughter and nephew were likely going to be directly impacted by legislation surrounding the STAAR and end-of-course exams (EOCs) for high school students.

The TEA recently announced that 44 new schools have been granted early college high school status for the 2015-16 school year.
