It’s finally summer, and our Summer 2021 ATPE News is now available online!

In this issue, you’ll find:

  • A guide to some of the best online experiences and virtual tours around Texas and the globe—whether you’re looking for an educational opportunity for your students or for some family fun this summer.
  • An exploration of the emerging curricula of digital literacy and how we can take care of the humans behind the screen.
  • A check-in with several ATPE members who first spoke to us in spring 2020 after the overnight switch to virtual instruction to see how their school year went—and also a few first-year teachers.

Plus:

  • Our professional learning partners recommend their favorite resources for educators.
  • In Your Ally, understand the context for the proposed changes to the ATPE State Bylaws and what the changes could mean for you and the association. (And be sure to visit org/bylaws—login required—for full details.)
  • In Your Voice, learn about the rule-making process and how it offers ATPE’s lobbyists another opportunity to represent your voice and needs, including a recent success to resolve an unintended consequence of 2019’s House Bill 3.
  • Finally, check out ways you can take a digital detox.

As always, you will also learn how your association continues to support efforts to elevate public education in Texas.

ATPE Marketing & Communications publishes the ATPE News magazine four times a year and is always looking for member-written content, thoughts, and ideas! Whether you instituted something innovative in your district or want to speak on the importance of a topic dear to your heart, we would love to hear from you. Visit atpe.org/magazine to view our submission guidelines.
