Happy Administrative Professionals Day!
Date Posted: 4/27/2022
We celebrate Administrative Professionals Day every year on Wednesday of the last full week in April. On this day, we honor the integral role and invaluable contributions of the devoted and esteemed administrative professionals in public education.
The title, administrative professional, has evolved significantly over the years, and it encompasses many job titles and duties beyond the traditional moniker of “secretary.” These professionals are responsible for administrative tasks and coordinate information in order to support office decorum and seamless day-to-day operations.
ATPE Executive Director Shannon Holmes, a former superintendent, describes the significance of the administrative professional’s role in Texas schools and explains why he believes they deserve recognition:
“Educating public school students in Texas is a team game. It takes a choreographed effort of everyone in the school system to ensure that children have what they need to be successful, and each person has an important role. On Administrative Professionals Day, I want to draw special attention to the vital work that our administrative professionals are doing. Without their coordination, organization, management, and sometimes counseling skills, school campuses across the state of Texas would not be able to function. So thank you for your daily commitment to making sure your school is the best place it can be for your students. Thank you for working with parents and handling the difficult situations that arise. Thank you for supporting teachers and what happens in the classroom. The work you do is a blessing to the students and other staff on campus, and for that, we cannot thank you enough.”
Administrative professionals provide support and to our schools every day, and their work should not go unnoticed. More than ever, they deserve our thanks, so take the time today to recognize and appreciate the administrative professionals who support you and your students.
