Apply to Serve on an ATPE State Committee by Aug. 25

ATPE’s standing and special committees play a critical role in ATPE’s member-governed structure. The members serving on these committees share important feedback on key ATPE initiatives, as well as set the stage for the annual House of Delegates meeting. If you’ve ever thought you’d like to be more involved in your professional association, this is your opportunity!

If you’ve previously applied for ATPE state committee service, you may notice the application process has changed. Instead of one application period tied to the ATPE Summit, we are opening two waves of applications closer to the actual meeting dates. This will allow members to have a better idea of potential scheduling conflicts, as well as make it possible for more members from around the state to apply and potentially serve.

Apply by Aug. 25 to be considered for service on the following committees:

  • Leader Development: Reviews and makes recommendations regarding association programs related to the identification, recruitment, training, maintenance, and recognition of ATPE’s volunteer leader corps. The Leader Development Committee will meet virtually in October 2024 and April 2025.
  • Legislative (two-year term): Reviews ATPE’s Legislative Program and propose recommendations to be considered by the House of Delegates. Once the program is approved by the HOD, the ATPE Lobby Team uses the program to help influence positive change regarding public education policy to the Texas Legislature, U.S. Congress, boards, and agencies. The Legislative Committee will meet virtually in November 2024 and February 2025.
  • Membership (two-year term): Discusses and reviews ATPE’s membership recruitment program, membership materials, and services and discounts. The Membership Committee will meet virtually in October 2024 and April 2025.
  • Nomination/Election: Reviews the current ATPE state officer election rules, make recommended changes to the rules and assist with recruiting nominees for state office. The Nomination/Election Committee will meet virtually in October.

If these committees don’t pique your interest, another round of applications will open in November for the Educator of the Year Awards, Leader of the Year Awards, Public Information, and Resolutions committees, as well as the ATPE Political Action Committee (ATPE-PAC). Sign up to be notified when this application wave opens.
