Register to vote by Oct. 10 for the upcoming constitutional amendment election

This November, Texans will vote on 14 proposed constitutional amendments, and the voter registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 10.
The ballot includes an amendment to authorize cost-of-living adjustments to certain TRS annuitants. If the amendment is passed by voters, retirees will receive a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in an amount based on their date of retirement:

Texas law requires eligible voters to register 30 days prior to an election, so make sure you’re registered by Oct. 10. Be sure to share this information with your colleagues and friends, and urge them to make a plan to vote, too.

- Those who retired between Sept. 1, 2013, and Aug. 31, 2020: 2% COLA.

- Friday, Oct. 27: Last day to apply for ballot by mail
- Friday, Nov. 3: Last day of early voting
- Tuesday, Nov. 7: Election Day, last day to receive ballot by mail
