<p>The Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) would like to applaud Senator Jose Menendez for supporting teacher pay raises through Senate Bill 1303. Today, Rep. Menendez held a press conference at the Capitol in support of public school teachers. As the state&rsquo;s largest educator group, ATPE supports this bill that would potentially give teachers a $4,000 raise.</p>
<p>&ldquo;The best thing we can do for our children is to give them access to a high-quality educator that helps prepare them for the future,&rdquo; ATPE Executive Director Gary Godsey said. &ldquo;We must invest in attracting and keeping great teachers in the classroom. We continue to urge lawmakers to make public education funding, including effective teacher pay, a priority.&rdquo;</p>
