<p>March 3, 2017</p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em>Educators attend ATPE at the Capitol</em></p> <p>Hundreds of educators with the Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) are heading to the State Capitol on Monday, March 6, for ATPE at the Capitol. They plan to discuss with lawmakers important education issues, such as opposing school vouchers, finding an equitable solution to fully funding public education, providing affordable healthcare options for educators, and stopping unfair attacks on school employees.</p> <p>“Attending ATPE at the Capitol is a great way for Texas educators to learn more about public education’s new leadership and funding challenges,” ATPE Executive Director Gary Godsey said. “Here they’ll have the opportunity to connect with their elected officials and tell lawmakers about the needs of Texas students and teachers.”</p> <p>The ATPE members will arrive in Austin on Sunday, March 5. They’ll be staying at the Renaissance Austin Hotel to prepare for Monday’s event. This year a panel of influential state leaders will address the educators and answer their questions about education legislation. Panelists will include Sen. Larry Taylor (R-Friendswood), Rep. Dan Huberty (R-Kingwood), and Rep. Educators attend ATPE at the Capitol

Hundreds of educators with the Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) are heading to the State Capitol on Monday, March 6, for ATPE at the Capitol.
