It’s finally summer, and our Summer 2021 issue includes a guide to some of the best online experiences and virtual tours around Texas and the globe—whether you’re looking for an educational opportunity for your students or for some family fun this summer. Speaking of digital experiences, our second feature explores the emerging curricula of digital literacy and how we can take care of the humans behind the screen. Then, we catch up with several ATPE members who first spoke to us in spring 2020 about the overnight switch to virtual instruction to see how their school year went—and also asked some first-year teachers to share their stories. Next, we asked our professional learning partners to recommend their favorite resources for educators. In Your Ally, understand the context for the proposed changes to the ATPE State Bylaws and what the changes could mean for you and the association. (And be sure to visit atpe.org/bylaws for full details.) In Your Voice, learn about the rule-making process and how it offers ATPE’s lobbyists another opportunity to represent your voice and needs—including a recent success to resolve an unintended consequence of 2019’s House Bill 3. Finally, we share ways you can take a digital detox.
