The Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE), the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT), the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT), Texas PTA, and the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) have partnered together to create this toolkit to help parents and teachers better collaborate during periods of virtual learning and instructional disruptions. We invite everyone to share their ideas and tips as we continue to build this guide for navigating remote instruction in the 2020-21 school year.

Public schools are uniquely positioned to serve students in special populations, even during a pandemic. Panelists from the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) and the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) discuss strategies educators and parents can use to collaborate and serve these student populations during this challenging time.
Life can feel overwhelming, especially in today’s world of pandemic illness, school disruptions, and other anxieties our children are facing. This workshop provides parents with real-world tools and strategies to help children thrive in spite of the overwhelming current events.
Given the challenging circumstances posed by COVID-19 as well as the upcoming cold and flu season, ATPE partnered with It’s Time Texas for a discussion about how members of the public school community can stay healthy both physically and mentally. The panel includes Arlet Polack, living healthy coordinator, It's Time Texas; Karen Schwind, NCSN, RN, BSN, president-elect, Texas School Nurses Organization; and Amber Cichocki, RN, school health issues chair for the Texas School Nurses Association.
In the second video in our Parent-Teacher Conversations series, two Texas moms, an assistant principal, and a first-grade teacher discuss how everyone can work together for our kids during the COVID-19 pandemic. It all starts with giving each other plenty of grace! ATPE, the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT), the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT), and Texas PTA collaborated to produce this important conversation.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, more parents are exploring home schooling as their children's educational setting. ATPE chatted with Dr. Kendra Koch, a mom who home-schooled all four of her children, to learn more about the commitment home schooling requires of parents.
ATPE State Vice President Karen Hames took part in a virtual town hall August 12 (featuring education and health experts) on what Texas parents should expect from learning this fall. The panel was hosted by CBS Austin.
